A native
of Tennessee, Carolynn A. T. Mann has drawn and painted since
childhood. Her interest was initiated by her second grade
teachers chalkboard illustrations, and her interest
continued throughout school. She is a graduate of Hiwassee
Collage, the University of Tennessee and Georgia State University.
She has studied with noted instructors including Ouida Canaday,
Joe Perrin, Kathleen Chaing Lou, Chen Klee Chee and many others.
Communicating a visual image of a moment in time is the format
she uses. Form and content through the use of color, shape
and design contribute to the image, reflecting power and decisive
direction. Her love and observations of nature and color can
be felt in her work. Her paintings are uncluttered by academic
restrictions and demonstrate a dynamic freshness in perception.
Carolynn is Past-president of Artists
Atelier of Atlanta and Georgia Watercolor Society and a member
of Atlanta Artist Club and National, American and Kentucky
Watercolor Societies, among others. She is active with committees
of Dogwood Arts Council, and she was chairperson for the 1990
Members Georgia Watercolor Society show in Atlanta.
Her work is part of collections in Australia, Finland, Russia,
England, Guatemala and nationally. Her paintings have received
many awards both locally and nationally and she has had four
solo shows in the past two years. Carolynn has lived in various
parts of the Southeast, where she has taught in several collages
and universities.
She is currently developing a series of work from her travels
to Asia.
